Makeup Revolution 'Fortune Favours The Brave' Full Review // MissBeautyEmily

20:40

Hello everyone!
If you're following me on any type of social media you would have probably noticed I have been raving non-stop about Makeup Revolution's new palette which is a collaboration with BritishBeautyBlogger. The palette itself is called 'Fortune Favours The Brave' and it features 30 matte, satin, shimmer and merged shadows encased in a gold metallic case.

I recently fully reviewed this palette over on my YouTube channel here, but I thought I would type up a mini review for anyone who prefers blog reviews to video reviews. I've also had a lot more time to play around with the shades so we could almost say this is an updated review!

Shadows
As you can see from the picture above, there are 30 amazingly varied shadows ranging from beiges, pinks and golds right up to dark greens, blues and purples. There are a great range of matte to shimmer shadows which I really like as I usually find palettes tend to lean towards one or the other (usually shimmers in my case) and then only include a couple of the other variation.

I absolutely love how this palette incorporates merged shadows, in my video I state how I have personally never seen or owned a palette that has mattes, shimmers and merged shadows all in one palette so this concept is great.

Not only is the variation great but the pigmentation of these shadows are really nice. The lighter shades aren't quite as pigmented as the darker colours but that is usually common with shades that are quite light in colour. There are possibly two or three shades that are quite similar when swatched but for 30 shadows, I think that is an amazingly low number! I've seen palettes with far less colours and still have about 4 or 5 similar/near identical shades.

I find that these shadows tend to fall out when applying so just be sure to wipe excess pigment away from under your eyes when completing your look. Apart from that minor fault, the eyeshadows themselves stay on the lid very nicely and last throughout the day, although I have found the colour can fade slightly but this may be due to not applying lots of the product (i.e- packing the colour onto the lid).

Product & Packaging
Perhaps I should have started on this area but I'm sure you don't mind! As I explained above, the palette is a lovely metallic gold shade which looks very sleek and makes the palette look a lot more expensive than it actually is (Heads up, this is only £9.99!). Inside you will find a brush in the middle of the eyeshadows, I don't tend to use this as I have my own specific eye brushes but if you don't own any I think this brush is actually quite decent as it isn't those tacky and hard to use sponge applicators! (What are those even useful for??)

There is also a plastic sheet placed on top of the eyeshadows which shows you the specific names of all them, I love when shadows are named as it gives it a more personal touch and makes makeup tutorials so much easier when explaining what shades you are using!
My personal faves are Pink Diamond, Favour, Sunset Hour, Super Gold and Fortune.

Last but not least, I have to mention the full size mirror this palette has, this has to be the biggest mirror I've ever seen in a makeup item that I've owned and it's honestly a very high quality mirror (As odd as that sounds, you do get products with that horrible 'mirror' material that really doesn't work for that purpose). Due to this handy mirror, it makes this palette so much more portable and travel friendly!

If you hadn't have guessed by now, I really do love this palette and think it's an amazing item for under a tenner! It's a great piece to add to your collection and I took this palette when I stayed with my boyfriend for the Easter and it was all I needed due to the amazing colour range.

You can find this palette on Makeup Revolution's website and soon to be in-store at Superdrug!
